Inspiration is truly contagious. A conversation between me and my friend, Gerben, lead me to start this painting, which in turn inspired another friend of mine to write a song about it.
I sometimes envision death angels to be beautiful creatures, so I fused that concept with this one. When he removes his skull helm, his flesh returns causing the nails on his shackles to pierce through them making him bleed. His emotions and pains also return... I kept the background plain because I didn't want it to detract too much from the main image. Wacom tablet + Photoshop CS2. I used a reference for the raven. Edit: edited background a little to show better depth... |
